How did you come about to write such different genres, from short stories to murder mystery?
I began my writing career submitting short articles to various magazines. That evolved into writing short stories. I dec ided to write a "long story," a novel. Then, I wrote more novels in a series, expanding upon the adventures of the original characters in Murder Murder Murder.
What was your inspiration for Mason and Striker? They were just names I invented. Remember, all my character's names are fictitious.
How do you tend to write (computer, pencil and paper), is there a place where you tend to write? Most of the time, I write with a computer. When I travel, I write with pen and paper. I then write a sort of a rough draft, which I expand when I get back to my computer. I keep small legal pads and a pen with me at all times to jot down ideas. I get ideas in the shower, in department store lines, in the car, watching TV almost anywhere and everywhere. I jot the ideas down immediately and later take them back to the computer and expand on them.&n bsp; It may not work for everyone, but it works for me.
What book is on your nightstand?
Any news on your upcoming books? I expect Tell Me a Story to be published sometime in 2011. Maybe in the middle of the year.
What book is on your nightstand I just checked. There are four books. I don't have to finish one book before I start another. I switch back and forth, just like you would do when you take different courses in a semester at college.
Here are the names of the four books I am currently reading:
The Changing Face of China by John Gittings
The Bridge (The Life and Rise of Barack Obama) by David Remnick
American Assassin by Vince Flynn
The Whole Truth by David Baldacci
